Troy sophomore Ella Pierce and junior Hunter Leighty got a chance to whet their appetites for further competition during the Class B State Track Meet in Laurel on Friday.

Leighty blasted through the 400m dash, cutting a full second off his previous personal best time and taking 8th place with 51.89 seconds.

In the 200m dash, Leighty hit 24.18 seconds in the preliminaries, less than a half second short of qualifying for the finals.
