•Thu., July 18, 3 p.m.: Farmers Market at Libby from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on lawn at Libby Chamber of Commerce.

•Fri., July 19, 3:30 p.m.: Troy Farmers Market at the Troy Museum from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

•Fri., July 19, 6 p.m.: Astronomy Club Meeting at 324 White Avenue, Libby. “Janine is cooking so all you need to bring is your questions. Brain teasers and chatter keep us laughing and the mysteries of space keep us in awe, so come with the mysteries that have puzzled you. There is a wealth of expertise in various genres among us, well able to add light to many mysterious issues!” All interested are welcome. •Fri., July 19, 6 p.m.: Kootenai Highland Gathering and Celtic Games. Admission by donation. Meet and greet starts at 6 p.m. Live stage entertainment by the Boulder Creek Band and fiddling music by Christian Johnson. Enjoy the vendors, meet the clans. Good food and beverages available. We will have our fun games as usual with the sexy legs contest, chicken legs contest, hairy legs contest, haggis hop and the tug of war. The primitive games will take place Friday. The entry cost is $5, and anyone ages 10 and older may compete. These primitive games include axe throw, spear toss, bow and arrow, stone throw and haggis hurl. The youths begin around 6 p.m. for the primitive games, then the adults ages 14 and up will begin around 7 p.m. No pets allowed inside the Gathering area.

•Sat., July 20, 8 a.m.: Kootenai Highland Gathering and Celtic Games. Admission by donation. Registration for the SAAA Athletic Games are from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The games begin at 9 a.m. Vendors, food and beverage booths, Clan tents and the day’s entertainment begin at 9 a.m. Enjoy the Montana Highlanders Pipes and Drums. John and Maurine will travel from Billings to join in on the piping as well! We will take a break at noon for the Grand Entry of Clans and the Veterans Tribute. Games resume after. There will again be evening live stage entertainment down by the river by the Boulder Creek Band and the McClures from Colorado are joining us this year on the stage as well. No pets allowed inside the Gathering area.

•Sat., July 20, 1:30 p.m.: Junior Ranger Day: Eagles and Trees at Libby Dam from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Focus Age 5-13 years old, all ages welcome, must be accompanied by an adult. Programs are approximately 30 minutes. Please come early to get a good spot!

•Sat., July 20, 1 p.m.: Libby Pioneer Society summer picnic at the Heritage Museum. Public is invited to attend. Hamburger/hotdogs provided, but bring a picnic side dish to share. For questions or to RSVP, contact 406-293-7698.

•Sat., July 20, 4 p.m.: Pioneer Day at Libby Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Park and Campground (Fireman’s Park) in Libby. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will provide a meal and games appropriate for children between ages 4 and 11. Bring lawn chairs, your family and friends. All are welcome. From the release: “The first Pioneer Day, now observed worldwide, celebrated the honorable individuals that settled Utah. But today, it honors the spirit, the sacrifice, and the heart of Pioneers everywhere. Many Pioneers have sacrificed all of their possessions and even their own lives to make a better place for generations to come.”

•Wednesday., July 24, Noon: Libby Friends of the Library Lemonade on the Lawn. “Are you smarter than a 5th grader?” quiz and trivia game on the lawn of the Libby Public Library. The game will challenge teams about knowledge in four categories: math, social studies, language arts and Montana facts. You can come as an individual and join with others to form a team, or you can come with your own team. The presentation is free and open to the public, with lemonade and cookies provided (you can bring your own lunch if you wish).
