The Libby High School softball team played a long weekend in the Butte Tournament, racking up three losses, two only a point apart.

In their first game of the tournament, Libby took a 5-4 loss to Hamilton in the fifth inning. Despite senior Haylee Cannon scoring on an error and sophomore McKenzie Proffitt bringing in sophomore Sheyla Gallagher with a fly ball to left field in the top of the inning, the Lady Loggers were unable overcome the Lady Broncs before the final out.

In their second game of the tournament, Libby fell to the Lady Rangers 7-2 in six innings.

Saturday evening, the Lady Loggers engaged Florence in battle, with both teams scoring their only runs of the game in the fourth inning, ending with a 2-1 win for the Lady Falcons.

Libby senior Khalyn Hageness tallied 7 strikeouts to Florence’s 11 from Brianne Hoffman, who pitched over 75 percent strikes throughout the six innings.

Libby’s one run of the game came from junior Emily Carvey, who hit a homerun as the first batter up in the bottom of the fourth inning with a line drive to left field.

The Lady Loggers were scheduled to play Whitefish Monday night, before press time, and will host their final home game against Columbia Falls at 6 p.m. on Friday.
