Troll comment alert. MR admits she has never been to a council meeting, wouldn't know the city attorney if she met him on the street, but has something derogatory to say about him without commenting on his actions or knowing what he does. Trolls, don't ya just love them? Does MR EVER comment on the issues or is she just keyed in on the personalities?

Napolean complex. When a diminutive man gains some sort of political power, they are more likely to abuse that power to compensate for their lack of physical strength. I also blame the Council since women in positions of political power ofter suffer the same symptoms.

That would be true with the information the City has released, Maverick. But, when you look at the language of Olsens' countersuit, filed before Christmas, Olsen is asking for more than his attorneys' fees when it says "and whatever relief the court deems proper". Olsen is alleging that Reintsmas action constitutes "abuse of process" and "malicious prosecution", in essence claiming Reintsma made a frivilous and meritless case against him just to harm his political candidacy. Olsen could take home a BUNDLE. Council should be discussing this at tonights meeting.

Abuse of process is a slam dunk because Reintsma, knowing he had Bernie Cassidys' approval, vacated the TRO which proves it was only designed for election fraud. Olsen has to win the residency case before he can prove malicious prosecution. Since there is no case, this will be easy to do.

The unethical resident of the mayors seat, Doug Roll, could have stopped this by admitting he ordered Reintsma to take this action when they vacated the TRO. The attorney answers to him and he has the most responsibility for this million dollar fiasco. But, don't let those dirty, lying Councilmembers off the hook. They did everything in their considerable power to create this mess. From abusing their influence in the Courthouse, to stonewalling Olsens' attempts to get this issue on the agenda and publicly discussed, to the way Councilwoman Williams had the case misrepresented by KLCB, this bunch of crooks pulled out all the stops to keep Doug in office.

Just like all of the Countys' money problems, this is coming out of your pocket.

Now for those in the audience who don't know how this works, here's the deal. Reintsma has taken unethical and illegal action to ensure Doug Roll got elected. He claims no one ordered him to take this action. The mayor and council are quietly allowing him to proceed with an action that has no hope of winning in court. Olsen has already spent probably in excess of $10,000 and will go to $25,000 before this is over. Reintsma will bill the City $25,000 himself. Doug's unethical election will cost YOU $50,000. Reintsma will leave town with a bonus of $25,000. Olsen will remain on council and YOU will pay his legal bills. The big losers in all this is YOU. The council could put an end to this with a simple vote.

Hey Doug your next. Just because this clown is leaving doesn't mean that he shouldn't face his unethical behavior. I agree with DC.The time has come for Libby to get someone in office that has some honesty and integrity. I hope this clown loses his license as an attorney. Hey clown, don't let the door hit you in the ^&*%$.

I agree with DC without saying to much about the case, not that I believe it will hurt my case. But it also goes to show you that Roll still can't tell the truth. Reintsma has done what for us as a town, anyone know?

While I most often agree with both of your posts, this time I have to take a somewhat different opinion. I don't think Jim Reintsma will fulfill his term as City Attorney, and to a certain extent I do subscribe to the "sooner the better" view. But, I am predicting Jim Reintsma will not fill out his appointment by Doug Roll because his license to practice law in Montana will be revoked before December. I believe Jim Reintsma is aware of this and is making plans to leave town. I don't want him to leave without facing responsibility for the unethical actions that are the basis of Allen Olsens countersuit and the basis of my complaint with various agencies in Montana, and now in Oregon.
