Bootleggers Ball to feature Tune Stranglers
Posted: Thursday, Nov 05, 2009 - 01:08:33 pm MST

By The Western News
Recently referred to as “a circus that plays music,” the Tune Stranglers will bring their smorgasbord of stringed instruments, washboard and the occasional clarinet to Libby on Friday night as part of the Bootleggers Ball.

The band will perform at the Memorial Center at 8 p.m. The event is for adults age 21 and older.

The group plays  everything from hot jazz to slow blues, country melodies and swingin’ rhythms, cowgirl yodelin’ to uptown croonin.’

The Tune Stranglers were received with great acclaim at some of the West Coast’s premier festivals including Wintergrass and The Oregon Country Fair. They also won the 2006 String Summit Music Festival’s band competition at Horning’s Hideout, Ore., and appeared as part of the main lineup at the String Summit in 2007.

The Tune Stranglers demonstrate their versatility and love for the ridiculous by performing with The Mud Bay Jugglers – which will appear earlier in the evening at 6 for audience members of all ages.

Band members include: Scuff “Skuff” Acuff on washboard and vocals; Harry “Boom Boom Sweets” Levine on upright bass and vocals; James “Rattler” Schneider on 4-string banjo, guitar and vocals; Rich “Papa Silo” Sikorski on guitar, ukulele; and crooner extraordinaire, Eliza Welch on fiddle and vocals.

Tickets

Adult - $10 early, $15 at the door
