The Lincoln County Health Department announced that it will provide an H1N1 nasal spray flu vaccine clinic for healthy children and adolescents from 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Kootenai Senior Center in Troy.
Children younger than 10 years of age will need a second dose, spaced three to four weeks apart, and a second clinic is planned at the same location in Troy for Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 1-4 p.m.
Health officials had to turn people away just one hour into an H1N1 clinic in Libby on Oct. 23.
"We ran out today but we will be getting more in on a weekly basis," health official Amy Smart said. "The only thing we really know is we don't know. It's kind of frustrating not knowing how much we'll receive each week."
The health department will hold another H1N1 clinic on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 3-6 p.m. at the Libby Senior Citizens Center. The clinic is a followup for children under age 10 who received their nasal spray on Oct 21.
“We hope to have additional mist for healthy people 2-49 years of age,” Smart said. “We may also have injectable vaccinations for those over 50 years of age or those with chronic health problems. However, we will have to confirm what will be available for that date when we receive it.”
Smart said further updates will be shared with media outlets and on the Lincoln County website at www.lincolncountymt.us.
