Post Office asking public to create mailbox access

The Libby Post Office is requesting the public to clear mailbox areas of snow and ice for the safety of its letter carriers.

Recent winter storms have made mail delivery challenging for letter carriers.


The Post Office asks residents to make sure the mailbox is visible and free of snow, sleet, slush, ice and debris while safely accessible for letter carriers.

Letter carriers are instructed not to deliver to mailboxes and locations considered to have difficult or unsafe access.

Youth baseball, softball meeting set for Jan. 15

A youth baseball and softball meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15 at Glacier Insurance in Libby.

On the agenda is nomination of new officers for open positions and discussion of registration times and fees.

Glacier Insurance is located across from Rosauers. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Farmer’s Market signup meeting set for Friday

A Libby Farmer’s Market signup meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 9 at Henry’s Café.

Library hosting astronomy shows

Lincoln County Libraries is celebrating the International Year of Astronomy with shows inside the StarLab, an inflatable planetarium.

Programs will include “Greek Mythology,” “Solar System” and “Constellations.”

The program will be staged on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Kootenai Valley Christian School gymnasium in Libby.

LHS Class of 1969 organizing reunion

A reunion for Libby High School’s Class of 1969 is being planned and an organizational meeting for all interested graduates is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Lincoln Lanes.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Traumatic brain injury group plans meetings

North Valley Support Group’s traumatic brain injury meetings are set for Tuesday, Jan. 20 in Libby and Wednesday, Jan. 21 in Troy.

The group will meet at 5:30 p.m., on Jan. 20 at the Families in Partnership offices, 83 Collins Ave., in Libby, and at 6 p.m. on Jan. 21 at Kootenai Senior Center in Troy.

The meetings are intended for people with brain injuries and family members to meet and talk about education, understanding and resources. Support groups provide confidentiality and empathy of experiences of other head injury survivors.

No meetings are scheduled for February.

Benefit to help woman pay expenses

A benefit for Troy resident Bonnie Ehlen, who needs surgery and does not have insurance, will be staged on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Troy VFW.

The event will include a double-elimination 8-ball pool tournament with $50 in added money (signup from noon-1 p.m.), pot luck dinner (all-you-can eat for $5 at 5 p.m.) a live auction (8 p.m.). and Extreme Karaoke by BJ (following the auction).

Raffles will go on all night with primary prizes being a queen-size quilt donated by Mountain Mamas and $400 (raffle at midnight) donated by Bob and Kathy Egbert and the Helping Hand Program organized by Fran Stanton.
