Letter: Plenty of positives about Troy’s Fourth
Posted: Wednesday, Jul 23, 2008 - 10:20:46 am MDT
Dear Editor:
At the least I find it in poor taste when the headline the Western News article chose to focus on a few negative events that occurred on Troy’s Fourth of July celebration rather than the overall picture (July 9 edition). Not one positive comment was given and that insults the many individuals who combined their time and effort to pull off this wonderful event.
What about the thousands of people that had a great time and experienced the enjoyment of seeing old friends and making new friends? What about the quality entertainment, events, games and booths that provided food and fun for all ages?
At any large-scale event, there will be problems. People aren’t perfect. Intolerable behavior should be dealt with. Suggestions could include banishment from the park for troublemakers to increased security.
I would like to thank all volunteers, financial contributors, vendors and musicians for their hard work and planning. Myself, and I’m sure I speak for a number of others when I say thanks and “I had a great time.”
