Four generations of the Akin family recently visited the Heritage Museum to see the World War I exhibit that was added this year in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into war. Ralph Akin of Troy was a member of the 20th Engineers regiment who assisted French foresters with logging, lumber manufacturing, railroad tie production and more during the war. The exhibit includes his photos and correspondence. Pictured left to right are the visiting family members: Jerry Akin (grandson), William Akin (great-greatgrandson), Cliff Akin (son), Judy Akin (daughter-in-law), Jeremy Akin (great-grandson), James Akin (great-grandson) and Wayne Akin (grandson).
